Goodbye Site.com and Hello Experience Site!
Instead of being built on an old Site.com site, you now use an Experience Site to expose the flow to the email recipient.
Goodbye exposing email addresses in the URL!
That data is now gone and only the contact or lead ID is included in the link.
The old unsubscribe link URL looked like: https://bunnies..my.site.com/Unsubscribe/s/unsubscribe?varRecId=003WU000001YxwhYAC&email=ilovebunnies@rabbits.com
Now it only includes the record id and not the email because it wasn’t necessary to expose that data.
Goodbye confirmation page and hello one-click opt out!
This is an optional but highly recommended change. Gmail now wants companies to allow email recipients to unsubscribe from everything with one click in there email. To meet that requirement, I removed the confirmation page where the user would say “Unsubscribe me from all email from this organization.”
Goodbye mysterious blank values
Option: You can allow your recipients to type in their email address if the Unsubscribe Link doesn’t work with their email security settings. Be warned that this allows anyone with the link and any email address of your contact or lead to unsubscribe that email address. They do not need to have the matching recordId.
Hello to your own branding
The unsubscribe link is now embedded on an Experience Site so you can add your own branding to that site. You can’t change the font of the flow unless you know CSS, but I think it looks a lot nicer now than when it was in Visualforce.
Instead of using the template included with the app, you can modify your own Experience Site to include this page.
